Our journey to Paint and Pin
Rebecca and Emma are mother and daughter who are part of a very creative family. Like generations before them they found joy in the arts with each other, during Emma's childhood with her siblings enjoying crafting with their mum Rebecca and as time has gone by individually throughout adult life. Rebecca with her love for painting and illustration, and Emma with her passion for textiles and sewing, both explored their artistic passions separately for years. Over time sharing knowledge and helping others enjoy creative experiences felt like a natural calling.
"We spoke for a long time about combining our experience to run workshops, and in 2026, a change in Emma's job situation created the perfect opportunity for us to take the leap and start Paint and Pin. Our workshops are designed to be welcoming, inspiring, and a place where you can learn something new alongside others who share your enthusiasm."
Rebecca
Rebecca is a Belper based artist with a Masters in Illustration whose work reflects a deep connection with communities and the unique stories within them. Her love and experience of art techniques gave her the passion to teach the skills she's mastered whilst still painting commissions.
Emma
Emma has a BA(Hons) in Fashion Studies and has spent the last decade sewing bears and other keepsakes for people to treasure. Working at Denby Pottery craft studio for a number of years, Emma grew a love for hosting special experiences for the community.
Feel like you might recognise us?
Rebecca is well known locally for her detailed birds eye view paintings and has taken part in a many large art trails such as Belper, Melbourne, Amber Valley's Ey Up Me Duck and Derby's Rams. Emma was a tour guide at Denby Pottery, she might have taken you around the museum or factory and you could have seen her in the craft studio during events, workshops and Paint a Pot too!
